How to buy right Bunk Bed for your kids room ?

A bunk bed is a space saving and multi-utility piece of furniture and we should be careful while purchasing a bunk bed for your child as the child's safety is a major issue of concern. It is very practical to select a bunk bed in case you have two kids and space is a major constraint. You can also opt for bigger sized bunk beds on which two adults can also sleep over. Lot of free and walking space is also available which can be utilized for placing a study table or a computer table or more toys if we use a bunk bed in the room. If you are buying the bed for your kids, then make sure that younger kid sleeps on the low bed (as the risk of falling down from upper bed is more in case of small children) and the elder kid sleeps on the upper bed. Two separate mattresses of different dimensions and size have to be arranged.

1. Space : It is very important to measure the space and also measure the ceiling height of the room. You should have at least two feet of space between bunk bed and ceiling so that the child can get down easily without hurting himself and also it should be kept away from fan to avoid any mishap. The height of bunk beds vary from brand to brand but the average height available in the market is about 5 to 6 feet tall. Bunk beds also have some pull-out drawers for storage purpose.
2. Extra features : Few models of bunk beds also have study area, display corner to keep show piece, storage drawers and play features like slides. Hence select the bunk bed which sits your child's age and his requirements and budget.
3. Material : Bunk beds are made of different type of materials like wood (like pine, oak, reak and cherry wood) , metal or combination of two. The material also plays the major role in deciding the price of the bed. Pure wooden beds will be more expensive than metal beds or mixture of two. Choose the colour of the bed matching your room decor. Nowadays, bunk beds come in colourful colours like red, orange etc, making the kids room more lively and bright. Metal beds are cheaper and lighter in weight and can moved in the house easily. But durability wise, wooden beds are long-lasting and will stay long.
4. Safety : This is the major point to be taken care of while buying a bunk bed as child's safety is most important. The bed should have proper guardrails, headboards and foot boards in order to save the child from any kind of accidental falls. While purchasing the bunk bed, it is highly recommended that the top bunk is normally used by a child aged seven years or older. Also put bunk bed at the corner close to wall so that the chances of falling are minimal. Also the ladder which is taking you to top bunk should be sturdy so that you should not fall while climbing.

Bunk beds use twin mattresses , larger mattress for lower bunk and smaller mattress for upper bunk. Foam mattresses are suitable and comfortable for kids as they are soft. Coir mattress is hard for kids and they are heavy also, hence they are put on proper beds only.
